Saturday was my second wedding cake and I love how it turned out. I did more research and finally listened to what everyone suggested about making your own fondant. The store bought stuff is expensive ($20/box and you need 4 boxes) and it tastes disgusting and it's dry and hard to work with. The homemade version looks the same but tastes good and is a lot easier to work with. It's more work to make your own but worth the money you save and the time. I didn't have the fondant rip or pleat at the bottom of the cakes.
Here I am piping on the design. I still need to work on my piping skills but that comes with practice I guess.
And the finished product! Hopefully it tasted good. Matt and I ate all of the scrap cake from leveling out the layers and we would put some raspberry filling and frosting on and it tasted pretty good. Thanks for the pictures Melanie, next time I'll make sure my camera battery is charged!

Great work! You really have talent!
That is beautifully amazing. Let's stay friends and you can make us a 50th anniversary cake, or maybe a 25th. I'll be rich then and able to pay you the big bucks. Okay? Sound like a deal? Great.
You did an amazing job! You are just to talented! You will have to let me know if you would like to do it again. I have a cousin that is getting married and is looking for someone to do her cake. Let me know if you are up to it and how much you charge for these beautiful things!
