July 2015

We started our July festivities with going to the Oakley Rodeo.

July 3, 2015

Olivia really liked the horses.

After the rodeo they had a firework show and Olivia loved it. I was happy to see she was no longer scared of them because last year she freaked out and had to be inside if fireworks were going off, the sound scared her.

July 3, 2015

Late that night when we were going to bed I was trying to take a picture of Olivia sleeping but I didn't realize my flash was on and she didn't like that very much.

July 3, 2015

My parents gave Kaleb a big inflatable pool for his birthday so the kids had fun filling it up. They brought out their Lego boats to play with.

 July 4, 2015

This girl is just like her mama, she loves watermelon, even if it is the scraps of the rind!

July 4, 2015

She's also trouble. She used this ink pad as lipstick and as a stamp on her body.

 July 4, 2015

Later we went to my parents for dinner and to watch the fireworks. The kids had fun playing games outside.

July 4, 2015

It was fun watching the fireworks from my parents house. The trees in the neighborhood keep growing so we have to keep moving our chairs around each year to adjust but it still is nice to watch them from their yard.

July 4, 2015

Olivia was jealous that grandpa was holding Christian so she had to join.

July 11, 2015

More pool fun.

July 11, 2015

Our stake made a float for the children's parade and our ward was to dress up as pioneers. I made the boys these hats using these tutorials (tutorial 1, tutorial 2). I told Matt I was making hats for the boys and asked if he wanted one and he laughed and said no. Then when I texted him this picture he said they were actually not bad and he wanted one. I told him too late now because I would have made his at the same time, I didn't want to start over again.

July 16, 2015

I made a bonnet for Olivia using THIS easy tutorial.

July 16, 2015

I pulled some stuff out of the boys closets, bought Ashton's vest at DI and bought Kaleb's suspenders so for under $10 they were set.

July 16, 2015

They always have to take some silly pictures too.

July 16, 2015

This girl still loves turning on and off the lights now that she can reach them. And yes, that is a nightgown. She loves her pj's and would stay in them all day if I let her and so most days I bring her clothes to the apartment to get her dressed there.

July 17, 2015

Silly selfie.

July 17, 2015

Olivia's dress was actually one I already had so I quickly made her some leggings and added ruffles at the bottom for bloomers.

July 17, 2015

I didn't think I would have time to make an apron but I was able to get one made so she was all set and ready for the parade.

July 17, 2015

Later that night we had my cousins reception to go to and Olivia loved dancing.

July 17, 2015

The next morning we were up early for the parade. You have to be there really early so you have plenty of time to sit around and wait. Not the best thing for a bunch of kids to do in the heat.

July 18, 2015

All of that work and waiting and the parade is a quick 15 minute walk but the kids had fun. Olivia loved waving at everyone.

July 18, 2015

After the parade I went to help a friend paint her new house and so Matt took the kids to Bell Canyon to hike around.

July 18, 2015

Another picture of Olivia's long hair.

July 21, 2015

We didn't plant any sunflowers this year but we had about 15 giant sunflowers come up anyways since there must have been seeds from the sunflowers the year before. They were pretty to look at and the boys enjoy watching how big they get.

July 21, 2015

Ashton played coach pitch baseball and they couldn't get anyone to coach so I agreed to do it. I was nervous being that I had to pitch to the boys but I played softball and knew at this age it would be easy. We had a really good team and by the end of the season everyone was hitting really good. I told Matt he needed to take a picture of Ashton since I was always pitching. Matt was also good at handling the kids in the dugout and getting them out to bat.

July 21, 2015

We had a good group of kids and I actually really enjoyed coaching them. Standing out on the field when it's 100+ degrees wasn't fun but they were all out there too so I couldn't complain!

July 21, 2015

Matt even captured the ball on this hit. Ashton did really well with hitting but he needs to work on his catching.

July 23, 2015

For pioneer day we went up to the cabin with some of my family and had tinfoil dinners and s'mores. The cabin below us had another deer hiding under its balcony.

July 24, 2015

We took the kids miniature golfing the next day and they loved it. The boys were competitive with each other.

July 25, 2015

July 25, 2015

I was not surprised she wanted a pink ball and a pink club.

July 25, 2015

July 25, 2015

After golfing we went to my parents stake center by our house and some owners of a firework company put on a huge firework show. Definitely beats out any other show for length and amount of fireworks. And we were really close which is good and bad, good view, bad getting ashes all over you. I had fun getting pictures of the fireworks.

Christian and Olivia on a lazy Sunday afternoon at my parents after dinner.

July 26, 2015

Matt took the kids out for ice cream at their favorite place, Leatherby's.

July 27, 2015

Kaleb received his arrow of light award during the July pack meeting. The scout receiving the award turns on each light bulb as the leader talks about the 7 virtues it represents.

July 30, 2015

They also give us this felt shield to put all of his patches and achievements on. He earned every pin that you could earn. He loved cub scouts and his leaders.

Blogging about July in January makes me long for the warm and long summer nights!
