Amazing!

Tomorrow we should be heading to Colorado for our niece's baptism. Unfortunately we won't be going due to this:A lot of the roads are closed and it's a very slow moving storm. They aren't discharging anyone from the local hospital because the weather is that bad. My mother-in-law is currently making the drive to Ft. Collins and she's going 10mph. Hopefully we'll get to see everyone in a couple months.

Matt and I both have tomorrow off so at least we'll be able to get a lot done on the house.

Yesterday I couldn't help but take pictures of Ashton's curly hair. I hope it never goes straight although Kaleb's did so his probably will too. Most of the time it's a frizzy mess but after he takes a bath they look so cute. It takes about 10 minutes to brush out his hair meanwhile I have to recruit Kaleb to entertain Ashton while he sits on my lap. I'm sure anyone who has a girl knows all about that.Ashton is pretty much a full-time walker now. He still likes crawling but for the most part his transportation of choice is walking. He thought it was funny to crash into the couch in the office and then into me.

Paint, Paint and more Paint!

The house is coming along. Everything is done except the kitchen and one bathroom. We're hoping to move April 4th as long as we get most of the kitchen done. Kaleb and Ashton have been really good the last couple of months letting us drag them around trying to get the house ready. I think they've been to Lowes 20 times in the last couple of months. But they do love playing swords with the paint sticks there. Ashton fell asleep drinking his milk in the car Saturday.I'll try to post pictures of the house soon.
The boys were helping put the closet doors back on last night.
I tried to get a picture of both of them together but here's what happens. Ashton either won't look at me or he wants the camera.
The last owners left a lot of furniture and things that we were able to use. One of the things I love is the original light fixture that was in our bedroom.

Another Wedding Cake...

Saturday was my second wedding cake and I love how it turned out. I did more research and finally listened to what everyone suggested about making your own fondant. The store bought stuff is expensive ($20/box and you need 4 boxes) and it tastes disgusting and it's dry and hard to work with. The homemade version looks the same but tastes good and is a lot easier to work with. It's more work to make your own but worth the money you save and the time. I didn't have the fondant rip or pleat at the bottom of the cakes.

Here's the cake after we stacked the layers and put the ribbon on.

Here I am piping on the design. I still need to work on my piping skills but that comes with practice I guess.
And the finished product! Hopefully it tasted good. Matt and I ate all of the scrap cake from leveling out the layers and we would put some raspberry filling and frosting on and it tasted pretty good. Thanks for the pictures Melanie, next time I'll make sure my camera battery is charged!
