June 2018

This is how the kids felt about the last day of school! We went out to dinner to celebrate.

June 1, 2018

Olivia wants her hair colored but we opt for clip in colored hair instead. This one she wanted done into a braid in her hair.

June 2, 2018

Summer evenings at the cabin making dinner and roasting s'mores is one of my favorite things to do.

There was even a baby moose right by our cabin.

I went through the kids' school papers and I liked this chart Kaleb made about what his plans were for the summer. And that he named it T.A.S.C. (Totally Accurate Summer Chart).

Ashton had a journal he brought home and these were a couple of pages I wanted to remember.

He was only a year off on our ages.

Apparently Ashton thinks you make a lot of money if you work for a bank. Just because they are in the business of money doesn't mean you get more of it!

We tried fishing at the reservoir. We learned (again) we aren't really fishing people. But we had fun trying.

June 9, 2018

Olivia was bored pretty quick so we went off exploring.

For girls camp this year it was on a ward level and we went to Capitol Reef National Park. Matt took this as we were just arriving at the park.

June 11, 2018

The first day we did a small hike to Hickman Bridge. It was steep and hot but not too long of a hike.

The next day we did our long hike through a river bed called Sulphur Creek. It was a 1-way 5.5 mile hike with small water falls along the way. The first part there wasn't any water but it was nice walking through the river for most of the trail to keep you cool.

June 12, 2018

We all cooled off in the cold water halfway through the hike.

I loved having Matt there with me to help. The girls call him Gregory and I'm August.

The last waterfall you have to slide down since there's no way to get down otherwise. The hike ends at the visitors center.

After that we stopped for pie and ice cream at the little shop they have there.

That night we walked down a trail where you can see names of pioneers carved into the rock.

Next time we'll try to get a group site away from the main campsite so that we don't have other people right next to us in the campground since anyone who has been to girls camp knows they can stay up pretty late talking and laughing. We had to keep reminding them to keep the noise level down so that we didn't have angry neighbors.

Overall though we all had a blast and would definitely go there again. The older girls handed out "awards" before ending home.

Olivia had her graduation from Upstart which was a free online preschool she did. This program definitely helped her become ready for kindergarten. She already was reading small books and could add double digit numbers all from preschool. It's nice because it goes at their own pace and I definitely recommend anyone with preschool aged kids to take advantage of it.

After they finished their individual test they had them come out and say what they wanted to be when they grew up and their favorite color. Olivia said purple and a pet doctor.

These boys were just happy treats were involved.

The boys already had dinner but we took Olivia to her favorite place after, Olive Garden. She loves their chocolate milk and spaghetti.

We decided to have Kaleb show us some of the places he's gone with the scouts so on his 14th birthday we started with breakfast at the Amber Restaurant which is one of our favorite breakfast places to eat.

June 16, 2018

The kids love getting hot chocolate.

The first stop was the lava tubes in Fillmore. There were only a couple other cars there so we were pretty much alone anywhere we went.

There were a couple small caves.

The biggest lava tub you could follow to the end where there was a small cave.

It was definitely unique and not something I had seen before.

The kids enjoyed using their headlamps.

We stopped when we saw this white sand on the side of the road in the middle of no where.

The next stop was the Dugway Geode Beds. It's a long drive in the middle of no where and we were worried we wouldn't have time. I almost hit a huge bald eagle on the road that I thought was some other animal until it flew away it was so big.

In the same area they have Topaz Mountain and we thought maybe we would dig around there and call it good. But the rock was too hard and we weren't equipped to break up the rock to find anything so we decided to keep heading to the geode beds.

We did find lizards on Topaz Mountain though.

Thankfully Matt's phone still had the map working since there is no service and it's not easy to find. There are so many roads everywhere and it's easy to get lost. Not to mention the roads are really rocky and many people complain about getting flat tires.

We finally made it to the geode bed and had about an hour to dig for geodes.

This was one of the better ones we found and broke open.

A lot of them are already broken and left there but if you dig you can find small unbroken ones. We ended up with 2 buckets of geodes. Some were larger already broken open ones and others we broke later at home.

The sun was setting quick and we knew we still had a long drive home and a long drive just to find somewhere to get dinner too. We ended up stopping in Eagle Mountain to get dinner and it was close to 11pm if I remember correctly. It was a long day with a lot of driving but we had fun.

The next day we celebrated Kaleb's birthday at Sunday dinner. His candles had colored flames so we turned off the lights so we could see them better. He wanted brownies instead of cake.

June 17, 2018

Olivia had princess dance camp and loved all the goodies she came home with everyday.

June 18, 2018

Kaleb took a hard fall off of his long board after school and later that night it still really hurt so we went to instacare to have an x-ray done. You could barely see it but there was a small fracture in his wrist. He had to wear a brace for 6 weeks but they said it shouldn't need a cast.

June 18, 2018

Day 2 of princess dance camp.

June 19, 2018

Day 3.

June 20, 2018

Kaleb made quite a few things in his wood working class. These were some tops he made. He loves building things and is pretty good at it.

June 20, 2018

Day 4 was magic day and Day 5 I didn't take a picture but it was Ariel day so they wore their swimsuits and had water activities.

 June 21, 2018

Playing and having pizza with cousins on a Saturday.

June 23, 2018

My grandma would always make her orange rolls for the adult birthdays in the family that wanted it since they cooked dinner every Sunday growing up. I've kind of taken over making orange rolls and it's my grandpa's favorite dessert so for his birthday I always make them.

June 24, 2018

Olivia likes to help flour the dough and roll it out with me.

My grandpa turned 94! He still gets around even if he isn't as quick as he'd like to be.

Ashton had day scout camp for 2 days. I'm always amazed how dirty the boys are when they get home. They must play hard.

June 25, 2018

This girl and her accessories!

June 26, 2018

Kaleb was able to go on the pioneer trek since he turned 14 a couple weeks before. His braced wrist wasn't much help but we was still able to pull with his other hand. He said it was a lot of fun and they had activities planned during the evening times. It sure is different than when I went. They slept in tents, we were under the starts on the ground and they ate pretty well. We didn't get much to eat and any food we brought was taken away. They also had Dominos pizza waiting for them at the end, lucky kids!

June 27, 2018

My first of my meds showed up in the mail for the in vitro. I couldn't believe how big the bag was and that was just the beginning of it. Makes you grateful for being able to get pregnant without any fertility issues. I definitely have more sympathy after this process for those women who struggle to get pregnant.

June 28, 2018

Olivia always wants to ride in the little cars and machines at the mall. We don't even actually put money in them but she still likes to climb in them.
