December 2014

I hate when I get too far behind on blogging because I know I'm missing things that I would like to blog about. I read a quote awhile ago that said "A camera is a save button for the minds eye" which is exactly how I feel. I can look at a picture from 15 years ago and remember all of the details of that moment and I love that. But I know there are those times I don't take a picture or a picture isn't necessary that I still want to remember and hope that I'll not forget. But pictures and writing them down help too.

So on that note let's see what happened in December!

The first weekend we had our ward party and Olivia had fun dancing to the live band. The primary room was set up with movies and treats for the kids so the boys were always off somewhere else unless they were eating.

December 5, 2014

It's nice that the boys can help decorate the trees because it sure takes a long time. So other than putting the ribbon and garland type decor on the tree the boys did the rest. They're pretty good about spreading them out unlike Olivia who still wants them all on the same branch.

December 8, 2014

The mild winter (only shoveled once) was awesome for the kids. They love playing outside so the fact that Olivia is outside in December at night without a jacket is pretty awesome. She loves grabbing Olaf's nose.

Olivia and I met Matt for a lunch date. She likes going to daddy's work because everyone gives her treats.

December 10, 2014

Love amazing sunsets.

December 11, 2014

Kaleb's room is next to our storage room in the basement so before bed he'll grab a water bottle out of there. I hadn't been in his room in probably 2 weeks and went in to check on how he was doing cleaning it and had to take a picture of the scene next to his bed. I feel like it's one of those I Spy pictures but you'll see there are 14 empty water bottles next to his bed. For some reason he couldn't quite muster up the strength to put them in the trash located 5 steps from his bed! :)

Olivia talking on her Minnie phone and "working".

December 15, 2014

We met the Quinney's downtown for the Larry H. Miller sing-a-long and it was our first time going.

December 15, 2014

The highlight was definitely Lexi Walker singing. Olivia loved when she sang "Let it Go".

The boys didn't want to look at me for a picture.

We had some friends over for dinner and a white elephant gift exchange and although I didn't take any pictures that night I sent this picture to Matt after making the rolls knowing he would appreciate it. I LOVE this roll recipe and it's so easy to make. We had a fun night and the kids played and had their own gift exchange.

December 16, 2014

This is Olivia ready to go to our family party on my mom's side. I loved the reindeer sweater Matt found at the store a couple days earlier.

December 19, 2014

Santa and Mrs. Claus even dropped in at the party. I wasn't sure how Olivia would do but she didn't mind sitting on Santa's lap.

Olivia loves any "cute babies" as she calls them so she likes playing with her cousin Christian whenever she gets a chance.

Matt took this after church since Olivia was wearing her new Christmas dress. And a bell she got in nursery.

December 21, 2014

Olivia is all girl. She's always filling up a purse with items to bring with us every morning and will put on any bracelets, rings, necklaces or sunglasses she can find.

December 24, 2014

We spent Christmas Eve at my parents house and Kaleb brought his string art to show everyone. I remember how much I loved doing string art in elementary school so I think it's fun they still do it.

December 24, 2014

Olivia giving great-grandpa a hug.

She loved her new Elsa doll but was upset I kept telling her to keep the shoes on so they wouldn't end up lost somewhere.

The boys sat down together to write Santa a letter and put out cookies for him and this is what we found. The water bottle was for on the go and they told Santa "No offense, you need to go on a diet. So here are carrots for the reindeer and cheese and grapes for you. But we still kept the milk."

Our Olaf who sometimes moves around at night (nothing like an elf on the shelf thankfully) decided to try out Olivia's new scooter on Christmas Eve.

Olivia immediately grabbed her new scooter when she went in the living room.

December 25, 2014

While the boys went through their stockings she continues standing on her scooter. For the first 15 minutes she didn't want to move off of that thing.

Eventually she became excited to open some presents.

She was watching the snow in her new Elsa dress.

And then went back to the scooter.

The boys received too many Lego's and some Halo Megablox sets too. My parents and sister came over to see what Santa brought them and Ashton wanted help putting his Halo set together.

Then Olivia was off to play in the snow.

Kaleb and Olivia threw snow balls at each other for awhile and then wanted to come inside and warm up.

That night we had dinner at my aunt and uncles house and we have a tradition of playing bingo after. Ashton was more excited to be the caller than play and win prizes. He was really into it.

Olivia wearing some of the bingo prizes.

We tried acting out the nativity and Olivia wasn't having it. She likes sitting in the cradle so she didn't like that we kept trying to put a baby in there.

She kept throwing the baby out of the cradle.

We'll pretend this picture is of her adoring the baby when really 2 seconds later she threw it out again. We had a great Christmas and loved spending time with family.

This night Olivia had 2 pairs of sunglasses on and all her bracelets.

December 27, 2014

Then she came up to her room where I was cleaning and tried on every dress-up dress she has. She would go down to show Matt, get her picture taken and then come up for a different one. This is also the day she moved to a big girl bed. She no longer sleeps in a crib. She actually has done really well sleeping in a bed. She's had a couple days where she would get out of bed multiple times but for the most part it's not too much of a battle. Nothing like what Ashton put us through! :)

Just another day accessorizing before church but this time with 3 pairs of sunglasses on.
